Course Overview

 INTRODUCTION

In April 2024, the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong introduced new climate-related disclosure requirements, which align with Hong Kong’s strategic vision for a robust sustainability disclosure ecosystem and comply with the guidelines set by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). These requirements will be incorporated into the revised HK Listing Rules, becoming effective on January 1, 2025, and will be applicable to all listed companies in Hong Kong and may affect the whole supply chain. Under the new Climate Requirements, organizations are required to adopt an ESG framework that includes the four core elements of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), as well as standards like IFRS S1 & S2, and GRI, etc. Companies must report their carbon emissions across Scope 1, 2, and, where relevant, Scope 3. They are also obligated to perform comprehensive assessments of climate change risks and opportunities, engage in scenario analysis, and assess their climate resilience.  The introduction of these enhanced climate-related disclosure requirements presents considerable challenges for local business leaders, ESG professionals, engineers, and other stakeholders. To assist in addressing these challenges, a new course has been created to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively meet and navigate these enhanced disclosure obligations.
