Higher Diploma in Film and Media Production

Programme Objectives
The Higher Diploma in Film and Media Production Programme aims at preparing students to enter the film and media production industry with the required knowledge, competencies and skills.  It provides courses that offer a foundation for understanding the technological, aesthetical and creative processes involved in film and media production.  The Programme adopts practical and project-based teaching and learning methods in order to train students with the generic and subject-specific and transferable skills essential for effective contemporary practice in the film and media production industry.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Programme, learners should be able to:

• Demonstrate technical and creative competence at a para-professional level in film and media production;
• Understand the professional practice and roles involved in film and media production;
• Analyse the professional, social, cultural and global contexts in which film, video or any form of moving images are produced and consumed;
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues and other professionals in film and media production;
• Apply ethical reasoning in the performance of personal and professional responsibilities;
• Use information technology (IT) as a supporting tool in the daily work environment; and
• Build a portfolio of identifiable specialist knowledge and skills that would enable them to enter the film and media production industry.
