Programme Aims
In recent years, a strong demand for sports and recreation professionals has been constituted by the rapid development of the sports and recreation industry in Hong Kong. The Programme aims to inculcate students with a rigorous and intellectual programme of study. Particularly, for those who wish to pursue or further advance their careers in the core areas of sports coaching.
Through high-quality education and training, this Programme emphasises both theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as develops students’ professional skills through gaining working experience in the industry. Upon graduation, students are expected to be professionally competent in their discipline (i.e. sports coaching).
Through offering this Programme, a steady supply of professionals in the afore-mentioned field have been, and will continue to be nurtured to support the rapid development of the industry in both the public and private sectors, and to improve the quality of life in the communities.
Professional Recognition
This programme is officially affiliated with the British Weight Lifting.
Specific Requirements
For Year 1 Entry :
- For HKDSE, a maximum of two Applied Learning (ApL) subjects can be counted for admission purpose. Relevant ApL subjects include: Sports Coaching and Management, Hospitality Services in Practice, Health Care Practice, Exercise Science and Health Fitness, Events Planning and Operation, Fundamental Health Care, Exercise and Fitness Coaching / Sports and Fitness Coaching, Rehabilitation Care Practice and eSports Technology / eSports Technology and Management.
- Applicants may be required to attend an interview.

Programme-specific Scholarship
(I) Hong Kong China Rugby Scholarship
The Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) Charitable Trust Fund was set up to provide financial assistance to those committed rugby players who have satisfactory scholastic achievements with needs for financial support. The Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) Charitable Trust Fund Committee. Incentive Award has established to reward applicant with outstanding performance.
(II) Elite Athletes Charitable Trust Scholarships
The Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association (HKEAA) with its aims to promoting sports, has offered scholarship to those who are keen to take part in sports or work for the industry.

Programme Curriculum
This is a credit-based programme, which students will normally complete over 4 years (in 8 semesters). Students are required to take 132 credit points with modules as shown below and an Industrial Attachment module for work-integrated learning.
To encourage lifelong learning in general, and to provide students with greater flexibility, the programme will be offered through a credit-based module accumulation system with a multi-entry and multi-exit structure.
Sports Coaching
This Programme prepares students to select coaching methods and tools to assess and train athletes. Students will learn how to design and evaluate training programmes so as to maximise their sports performances of individuals and teams.
As professionals in sports coaching, graduates are expected to solve problems that arise from sports coaching and training in a professional manner.

Work-integrated learning
Work-integrated Learning (WIL) modules, which are directed industry attachments that provide powerful learning experiences by integrating theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. Students are required to complete 250 hours of Work-integrated Learning to be eligible for the award of Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Sports Coaching.

香港運動及康樂管理行業發展迅速，業界因此對相關的專業人才十分渴求。本課程旨在為學生提供高質素的學位教育及專業技能訓練，以配合社會對運動訓練專業人員多元化的殷切需求，協助學生晉身運動教練行業。
本課程理論與實務並行，所涉及的範疇廣泛而實用。
透過著重理論與實務並行的高質素教育和專業技能訓練，加上豐富的行業實習經驗，畢業生將會掌握專業知識和臨床技巧。

（一）中國香港欖球總會慈善信托基金 – 教育獎學金
中國香港欖球總會（HKCR） 慈善信託基金教育獎學金旨在幫助在學業上表現出色且需要經濟援助的欖球運動員。中國香港欖球總會信託基金委員會負責決定獎學金的得主。 此外，另增設優越獎，以表揚在各方面均表現傑出的欖球運動員。
（二）精英運動員慈善基金獎學金
香港精英運動員協會（HKEAA），是為提供獎學金予運動員以修讀教育或職業訓練的課程以推廣體育活動。

課程結構
本課程採用學分制，學生一般於4年（8個學期）內完成課程。學生須要修畢132個學分，所須修讀的單元如下所示，並須修讀為工作綜合學習而設的業界實習單元。
為鼓勵終身學習，並為學生提供更大的靈活度，課程採用多入學點和結業點的累積學分制。
運動教練
此課程培育未來運動教練人才，藉由運動科學提升運動表現。
運動教練範疇的課程將涵蓋個人及隊際運動教練學、運動表現測量與分析、運動生物力學、運動心理學、力量及體能訓練、以及運動選才。
工作綜合學習
工作綜合學習單元為學生提供實習機會，結合理論學習及於實際工作的應用。學生必須完成250小時的工作綜合學習，以符合獲頒運動教練（榮譽）社會科學學士的資格。
