Course Overview
Accelerate your Excel skills with Microsoft Copilot: Generative AI for formulas, data analysis, visualization & more!
This is a hands-on, project-based course designed to help you leverage Copilot in Microsoft Excel to solve real-world data analytics problems.
We’ll start by reviewing Microsoft Copilot’s basic features and limitations, compare strengths and weaknesses against Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, and get you up and running with Copilot for Microsoft 365 on your machine.
From there, we’ll dive into each of Copilot’s core use cases for data management and analysis. You’ll practice using Copilot to add new formula columns using natural language, apply conditional formatting rules to highlight key data points, and analyze data to find insights using pivot tables and charts.
Last but not least, we’ll showcase how to use Copilot’s generative AI engine and Python in Excel to perform advanced analyses and solve complex problems.
Throughout the course, you’ll play the role of an HR Admin at ACME Corporation, a manufacturing company that makes outlandish products based on classic cartoons. Using Copilot in Excel – and the skills you learn throughout the course – you’ll manipulate employee data, monitor performance metrics, and make data-driven recommendations to your HR supervisor.

Overall a good course, but still believe if more complex practical scenarios must be part of the course.

So far I still can't tell if I even have the right version of Copilot to be able to take the course.

The course gives foundational knowledge on how to optimize Copilot on Excel. It seems Microsoft updated Copilot so the user interface is different from what is shown in the course. While the features are there, the discrepancy presents a bit of a challenge of following the course. Another challenge is that Copilot may provide a different solution to a prompt that what is shown in the course. This is not the courses fault, but it felt a bit of a hindrance in learning the course. Despite that, I found this course to be helpful in getting some basic understanding of Copilot in Excel. I feel more confident using Copilot in Excel. However, since there currently seems to be limited use of Copilot in Excel (which the course addresses well), it feels more like a surface level learning experience.
