The best way I've found to learn is to do. It's one thing to read about something, but to have GNS3, and VIRL, and lab up a topology, then be tested on it so you have to prove you know how to fix it, is the most effective way I can get myself to remember things. You don't tend to forget when you've been challenged with actual scenarios and are guided in learning by an exceptional teacher like David.
