Initially, I was skeptical about the negative reviews. I watched this course AFTER passing the LPI Linux Essentials exam, just to get a different perspective on the content. I think Jay dropped the ball on this one. Most of the content was glossed over and the emphasis was on “memorize this” instead of explaining some details that would help with the memorization. I could list many topics that were in the LPI book and exam and were not covered, but I’ll give just a few examples: different types of software licenses, for/while loops, globing, regex, SUID/GUID/Sticky bits, different types of compressions such as bzip2 and xz. It’s a good intro course to Linux, BUT it is not a good course to pass the exam at all. My recommendation is to read the LPI book and supplement it with either Cisco NetAcad’s course and/or Shawn Power’s LPI Essentials playlist on YouTube.
