Course Overview

The Java EE Course - build a Java EE app from scratch

Build a full Java EE airline management application from scratch, and learn Java EE theory and practice in the process.

Welcome to the Java EE course!

Learning Java EE shouldn't be a pain.

This course is a complete Java EE learning solution geared especially toward beginners who have limited or no prior Java EE knowledge and experience.

We will build a full Java EE airline management application from scratch, and learn Java EE theory and practice in the process.

The initial release of the course covers the following topics:

* Servlets and JSP - Understand and build web apps with Servlets and JSP

* Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) - Understand and build robust EJB back end services

* Java Persistence API (JPA) - Understand and use JPA to interact between applications and databases

* REST Web Services (JAX-RS) - Expose REST web services that allow remote applications and JavaScript to interact with an application

* Understand and use resource and dependency injections

Teaching philosophy

No dull slides that leave you asking how do I actually do anything of what's shown.

I will show you everything in detail - installation, coding and deployment. I will not rush or skip any steps. I will show you the whole process.

If you see a piece of code on my screen, you will see me typing it from scratch and running it. I would never show Java code that I created before recording a lesson. All code will be typed and explained during the lessons from scratch.

Please see the sample videos, to get a sense of what the course is like.

I am looking for a tutorial about J2EE ( Not Java EE which implies to be the newer stuff ), ancient tech and this course covers essential part of old J2EE. The tutorial is a live recording of the author doing the code and it works, it is good for old technology learning because we can be sure that as long as we follow the IDE version, container version and every keystroke of his, we can be sure that the code would likely work. By the way the code quality of this guy is so bad that it is insane. Maybe he didn't focus on code quality during the course so that he can focus on the important part, but he almost hit every bad programming practice I can think of : terrible variable names, hardcoding repeated static string, ugly if-else statements scatter across the whole program. The code is messy. Well I guess this is the norm 15 years ago and having a working program is most than enough back then. Good time. I jealous him because the standard of software development has been raised multiple times in recent years and it is tough.

After researching the course before deciding to take it, I saw what I later for myself experienced: - The instructor barely made the font bigger, so it was hard to see the videos a lot of times, and I had to go back and forth which made me waste time. - Questions were never answered. - He repeated simple concepts over and over, but skipped explanations on more complex concepts. - He did not add a second version of the course as promised. I still chose to take this course because of the content and the project based learning, and for sure, I did learn tremendously. For that, I do recommend this course, so if you can get over the points above, take it; it's worth the while even though it's an old course. Thanks Daniel!

Definitely the best course here on Udemy for learning JAVA EE for beginners. And the instructor himself is epic, with clear knowledge and great accent. He also repeats some old points multiple points, in case you might have forgotten about them. Although there are two negative things about this course:- 1) Course seems kind of dead, as I don't think instructor or any tutors are still here to assist you, if you get stuck up in a pinch. So you'll have to figure solution yourself. And believe me when I say this, sometimes it can take one or two days to solve the problem which is extremely annoying 2) Instructor did not teach the material 6-10 which he talked about in demo i.e. JAX-WS, JMS, CDI in-depth, JSF, Java EE security. But if you are a beginner and want to learn just the basics, I think this is the course to start with. As I love the material, and the theme inwhich he has taught everything, making everything connected, which feels like a real scenario.

I really appreciate the instructor's effort to explain all the details , including the code flow. He even explains the tiniest of tiniest details and often repeats himself multiple times which makes his videos quite long and a bit agitating . Overall a great course and the instructor is really knowledgeable.
