This isn't a course for someone new to programming or Scala. Most other resources I found for Scala take a kitchen sink approach, I felt overwhelmed. This video helped clear up some issues I had with the language and gave me some new focus. Wish some other things were covered instead of Akka. Mark (the instructor) has great pace to voice and gives enough information without overload. But, again, you need to have some programming or prev. Scala experience. For tooling/IDE, the Eclipse Scala IDE afaik is deprecated. Intellij workbook just gave me headaches and I can't get VS Code to work in Scala. If like me, just use the Scala REPL for code samples.

Course starts out well but the XML and AKKA material needs to be updated. There are no updates to this course, no announcements and the instructor doesn't answer any questions.

I found the course good as it covered important foundations to build on and the introduction of the tools used to program in Scala are cutting edge. Scala does indeed provide the flexibility of dynamic language coding.
