It's ok, relatively well explained but makes a lot of mistakes - maybe better planning required! Update: Just finished the course and upgraded from 3 to 4 stars. Barry is engaging and very much reminds me of some South African friends I have (which is a good thing). Pleased with the output and looking forward to trying some stuff on my own with help from the documentation. Thanks Barry!

I understand this is not a programming course and I greatly appreciate the time the instructor has taken to provide this information, however, this course is geared towards those with little to no knowledge of programming. The Instructor needs to slow down and focus on 'hand holding' those new to programming. Those new to any form of programming / scripting languages need slow and detailed explanations on what each line does, why it's there, why things need to be inputted the way they are (double and single quotes have two, entirely different purposes and are NOT the same thing. One is literal, the other is not. One display variable values, the other does not etc., etc.) and how it works in relation to the application and what happens if things don't match or are inputted into the application code incorrectly. For example, simply changing the label from "myLabel" to "lblTime" and saying it can be renamed to whatever and hastily changing it all over the place without showing what and why you're doing what you are doing and what happens if the labels didn't match, doesn't help the new programmer to grasp what you're trying to teach. It has the potential of creating very, bad, and potentially destructive, programming habits. Also, more explanation on build errors and warnings in the beginning to help newbies troubleshoot them earlier on so they don't freak out if their Fitbit suddenly goes blank do to a coding error; making them believe they just ruined their very expensive watch would be very beneficial. I realize I'm "new" to the Fitbit development scene and that's why I'm here, but if it weren't for the fact I'm an experienced programmer with 6 languages under my belt, I'd have been completely lost (and terrified) in some areas. The instructor does do a good job however with showing you the basics of how to get started with building your first application and I do like his approach and easy going, let's have fun approach. I'm really hoping the remaining videos go more into depth of the nuts and bolts of developing Fitbit applications.

Very clear and concise introduction to getting set-up for Fitbit iconic development. I was able to get through the material very efficiently and quickly create a working watch face for my Fitbit ionic.

Definitely a great place to start. It's good to have a base to jump from. Wanting to get more involved stuff though! I would love an app tutorial! Thanks Barry
