Complete guide to create and/or update applications to the new Firebase version released by Google in 2016 Google I/O
On 18 May 2016 at Google I/O, Google announced the new version of Firebase, saying that "Firebase is expanding to become a unified app platform for Android, iOS and mobile web development." and they did. Now Firebase is not just a Real-Time database, but is also:

it is a very remedial course, but the content was accurate. The only gotcha was the reasoning that because the simple app works after upgrading the DB, and no code changes are required to work with the new database, provided you don't update the client libraries. I suspect there will be some rare cases where the new libraries would be required, and to prove this, a reference to a google claim of backwards compatibility would be nice. As always, well done.
