Course Overview

Code a Responsive Website Using HTML5 and CSS for Beginners

Learn to hand code a responsive HTML5 site with beautiful CSS, scalable images and a functional web form.

Course Overview

This course is the equivalent of a 3 semester-hour college course on Web Design, without all the nasty tests. This course will introduce you to the basics of HTML5 markup so you can create a website with forms, images, responsive navigation, etc. Because the course does not rely on a specific WYSIWYG code editor, you will also understand what each line of HTML markup and CSS does. This is essential so that later when you start using a WYSIWYG code editor and you need to make changes, you know what is going on under the hood.

Course Materials

In addition to the video screencasts, this course includes a start file for each unit and a completed example so you can see the code in action.

Course Structure

This course contains 8 units, each of which build on the previous unit. By the end you will have a fully functional website.

In all honesty I was a little intimidated when I paid for this course. I had no experience or knowledge in HTML or CSS and wasn't sure if I was going to understand the curriculum. However, to my pleasant surprise the course was very well laid out and helped be go from a very basic 1990's style website to something I can be proud of. I decided to build a website for my parents Non-Profit charity and they love it! Thanks for the great course!

A very in depth and step by step walk through of how to hand make your own website. It gives you all the skills you need to make whatever you want. The instructor for this course is my College Professor and is really well put together with this subject. Its a bit of a dry course, done lecture style but thats fine.

This course is so well organized from the ground up for absolute beginners, it's almost impossible to fail this course. Just follow absolutely all the videos, do the work, and you should be fine.

Overall, it was a great course to take and I learned a lot. The videos really helped me add to my website and get it up and running. I feel the web design example is a bit outdated given that most sites nowadays are full-width and image heavy. Instructor was great and was very informative.
