Ruby on Rails can seem overwhelming at first, but it doesn’t have to be! In this Rails course I’ll walk you through it step by step and you’ll be building your first web app in MINUTES. You’ll be amazed how quick and easy it is to create very professional looking websites with Ruby on Rails, even if you have no programming or web design experience at all.

Watch over my shoulder as I build a cool To-Do List app step by step right in front of you. You’ll follow along and build your own copy. By the time we’re finished, you’ll have a solid understanding of Ruby on Rails and how to use it to build awesome web apps.

The course contains 29 videos – and is just over 2 hours long. Watch the videos at your own pace, and post questions along the way if you get stuck. You don’t need any special knowledge or software to take this course, though any experience with HTML or CSS is a plus. You don’t even need to know the Ruby programming language. I’ll walk you through EVERYTHING.

John is a great instructor he's been doing it for years and it shows. He hasn't forgotten the fun of doing something cool with code and this enthusiasm really rubs off on you. This course is insanely practical. It helps if you are running mac or linux as it's a real pain to set up Rails on Windows. Tip: you can dual boot your windows with ubuntu (look on youtube). Or use the old c9 which John walks you through. As the course runs on cloud 9, it's Rails 4.2. I can do the course running Rails 5.2 and Bootstrap 4.2 with some minor googling. All questions (Q & A) have been answered by John so it's definitely active. The biggest plus for me is the video length mostly of 3 - 7 minutes which is the sweet spot. John is well aware of not boring us/tiring us out by going on coding marathons of 10 -25 minutes - who's got time for that? Another great takeaway is developing little features saving then testing in the browser - it sounds simple but it stops you making a really big mistake that will lose you hours debugging.
