Course Overview

Learn Basic Chinese - Speak Chinese Mandarin (Level 1)

Learn Basic Chinese : How To Speak Chinese : Learning Mandarin Chinese Language : Speaking Chinese Level 1

Learn over 58% of simple  Chinese daily conversation and adopt a genuine  Chinese accent.

This course follows the natural process of learning a language, just like how we learnt our mother language, which is completely different from the traditional way of language learning.

We will play a dialogue spoken by two to three native speakers. Listen as much as possible, like a little baby, emerse your brain into the conversation, pay attention to the gestures and any other kind of visual content matches the sound you hear and try to guess the meaning.

play the conversation as often as possible, until you are able to understand the content and even able to predict what the next word sounds like.

The video dialogue will be followed by an explanation lecture, with pin yin, and every detail from the video dialogue. You can listen, repeat, and try to imitate the pronounciation of a word using shadowing technique ( repeat right after you hear a word or a sentence) you can record yourself and compare yourself with native speaker.

In the end, there will be vocabulary extension PPT with sound track.

After finishing this course, you will be able to communicate with native Chiense speakers with confidence, even speak with a genuine Chinese accent.

It is hard to believe that this course was written seven or more years ago. The production may not possess the lustre of the courses all the time, but believe me you will learn a lot and be able to speak and understand Chinese rather than just know grammar. I am at HSK 4 Level, and I think I should know, as I used many textbooks and enrolled in many courses. But what impresses me so much about Michelle style of teaching? Apart from the fact that she know so well how to teach, she is well aware that the clarity of what is being taught is crucial; that repetition and drumming in of concepts is essential to the acquisition of a language and learning to speak the language; that teaching a second language in the manner we learnt our native language is a condition without which it becomes tedious, if not impossible, to learn to speak a second language. For how many years have so many students learned a lot of grammar without really being able to speak the language fluently? For many years, without success, I have been arguing that we should learn a second language the way we learned our native language, using comprehension, imitiation, repetition, and so on, and that grammar should be teased out or pointed out of what we learn to say. Now Michelle is out to prove me right. I have bought both Level 1 and Level 2 of Michelle's courses. I have nearly finished going through Level 1 and will soon start Level 2. I hope that Michelle has not lost her enthusiasm in teaching in this manner, and that she will produce a Level 3 and more. It will be a big loss for all serious students if she did not. Thank you Michelle.
