Course Overview

Power Japanese Listening (JLPT N5 Listening)

Expand your worldview by picking up Japanese! Here, you'll learn to speak and listen basic Japanese phrases & dialogues!

Hello there!

We will be going over very basic dialogues and phrases you want to know about Japanese before you hop on to the plane for a holiday trip to Japan or take the JLPT N5 test! This course will dissect the four types of listening question styles in N5 listening, go over some of their pitfalls and key pointers, and provide lots and lots of practice questions. Also, we will learn how to speak, which isn't tested in N5 (as JLPT does not require speaking) - but we all know that speaking is essential in conversation. It's how we grow, how we connect, and how we build relationships. You can expect lots of practice for speaking as well!

Now, I hope you're ready. This course will be in full English, and all of my instructions (well, aside from actual practice questions) will be in English, so don't fret. You will not need any materials on your side to begin this course - all you need is a ready-to-challenge mindset.

We will be covering the N5 level dialogue, an introductory level, which means you will need to have hiragana, katakana, and some kanji covered and have some vocabulary and understanding of basic grammar before taking the course.

Exceptional N5 listening course. The best part is that you are encouraged to listen and to speak - this is (for me at least) the missing element in my Japanese study. Thank you so much for an excellent course Sogen-sensei. I only wish that you'd get more learners on this and make an N4 and N3 course too! Bless you sir!

Fantastic listening practice with some extra grammar and vocab reinforcement, along with interesting cultural notes as well! The instructor is great and speaks the prompts clearly, but quickly enough that you really have to practice focusing. The questions themselves are also well structured throw in some tricks you'll want to look out for on the test. I hope he does similar courses for the other JLPT levels

I'm not a beginner but not an intermediate yet, so this course is great for me to polish my listening (and conversation through the exercises).
