This course should be labeled as basic intro to After Effects. It had few examples of basic things that can be seen on any youtube video. I was interested in character animation and that was the worst section, it was like on 48x speed with voice over of how it was created, but no way for me to create especially mouth actions. Also no character animations were shown except just talking of "you can add this, you can add that". I bought the course to know HOW to do THIS and THAT, and the next lecture starts with "here is a basic animated character that you can download and decode how I did it" something like that. I cannot recomend this course, you would learn a lot with couple of youtube videos.

I think this course might be more appropriately named Animate Graphics for Explainer Video. Taking the course is like watching several unrelated youTube videos to learn various AE techniques and tips on how you might use what you create in an explainer video. If you're a beginner learning AE or not familiar with AE, you will definitely have a hard time learning AE from this course. I did learn about using masks in AE because that was covered with lots of details. Bottom line, the course did not cover what I was hoping to learn in order to create explainer video in AE.

Very fast paced and you may find yourself (like me) constantly pausing and going back to see what buttons were pressed to achieve results. I know this was a not a beginners course for Ae, but there are some complicated tricks in it that should have been explained (in my opinion) in far more detail (especially concerning masks). I was hoping the course would be based around actually making an explainer video (as the name suggests) but this is not the case (e.g. develop a story with a beginning a middle and an end). That's not the case. Instructor is clearly very knowledgeable, but I would suggest you only take this course if you are already very familiar with Ae (and you use a Mac rather than a PC).
