This course teaches PHP Data Objects (PDO), one of the available API for connecting to databases within PHP. PDO is an object oriented extension which was introduced with PHP 5.1, taking advantage of several features introduced into PHP at that time.
In this step by step course both beginners and experienced web developers will gain a comprehensive understanding of the modern PDO extension and how it can be used to create scalable database driven application.
This PHP with PDO course uses MySQL database to teach PDO concept and finally you learn how to build a basic task list using the concepts that has been taught in the course.

I was familiar with PHP in the past but hadn't used it in a while and I wanted to understand PDO. The course was very easy to follow at a good pace. My heart did sink when near the end the tutor mentioned we might have to use terminal (on the MAC) for a specific task but there was a manual option, which the Tutor helped with too. Overall, a great course and no regrets here. I have learned a lot from the course.

The instructor is very experienced on the matter, but this course is NOT for beginners. I wanted to sharpen some OOP PHP, but this course uses AJAX heavily and this is where the problem lies. Concepts are not clear enough in this area. You really need to know AJAX or you are just going to be lost towards the middle and the end. Maybe an introduction on it or warning stating you need to know the basics of AJAX before buying this course. This course should be called AJAX with PHP and PDO in my opinion. On a positive note, the code works and there are few mistakes so credit to the instructor. He speaks clear, although he is quite fast with showing you things. I would purchase another course by him, but maybe more carefully next time.

Thanks Terry for you contribution to Udemy. Terry provides the concise and valuable coding necessary to get ahead with PHP PDO. I would have liked some extra lessons that include web pages where data is written to Oracle and SQL Server databases as well just to have a commercial feel for some of the popular issues faced with PHP PDO among the major relational database players.
