The objectives of this course is to help the students to gain the understanding of using finite element programs, such as ANSYS with its two platforms APDL and Workbench and Abaqus, to properly simulate structural engineering problems.

first of all, you must set-up the programs, Through the introduction section, you will find the download links. The following sections are the tutorials of the three platforms divided between them. at the first part of each platform you will find in the resources helping curves that will ease the material modelling step.

at the end of the course you will be able to gain the understanding of the modelling process starting with the choice of the appropriate elements and defining the materials and their properties, creating the model, and using the dividing tools. After that, using the meshing tools, applying boundary condition and setting the time step and starting the analysis. Finally, viewing results, visualization, and plotting curves.

The previous procedures will be covered in the three Finite element platforms. A detailed experimental example will be explained and will be carried-out using the three platforms then the numerical results will be compared to the experimental work results.

A long the course the different between the three platforms will be shown, such in creating the model and material modelling.
