An INTERMEDIATE Level Class to Grant Yourself a Giant Leap as an Artist (Affinity Designer or any other vector software)
NOTE: This is not a class for beginners but for INTERMEDIATE USERS (you need to have familiarity with layers, masking, effects, transparencies, gradients and boolean operations (subtract, add, combine, intersect, divide).
In this class we are going to learn the principles, techniques, methods and mindset involved in the creation of highly realistic vector graphics. This is a project oriented class, where the student is expected to follow along together with me while creating the final project which is a full vector realistic car (Porsche 911).
>> I highly recommend you check the full student's gallery before taking this class!! <<
It is full of magnificent examples where you will get a better insight of what you'll be able to achieve after taking this class. Many may people is achieving amazing results and so will you!
I work in Affinity Designer for this class, although the principles, methods and techniques are the same for any other vector software, so it's up to the student to use this or any other software. In the mentioned students' gallery there are some Adobe illustrator examples and on my Illustration Facebook group many people works these techniques in Affinity Designer, Illustrator, Inkscape, etc. It's all about knowing the right few tools needed!

Wow! I am blown away by what I managed to achieve in this course! When I started, I did not believe that I would be able to get anything close to the instructor's final illustration, but with her step-by-step approach, my final artwork looks pretty damn good! Such simple techniques really, but with lots of patience, attention to detail and plenty of time, it all comes together nicely to make a very slick and professional looking artwork. I'm looking forward to using the techniques I learned in my own projects.

Great course! Would have loved to dive a bit deeper into some of Affinity Designers methods and possibilities, but the course covers all the nessecary basics and techniques to achieve professional artworks and the end result speaks for itself. Thank you Isabel!

This is an outstanding course for anyone on their vector drawing journey. Not only are there great tips on drawing techniques but getting the most out of your software and improving the workflow are covered extensively. I would recommend this course for any intermediate, or experienced vector artist, wishing to add more to their current skills and further their capabilities.

I took this course as an out-and-out beginner - with no design or artistic background - and wilfully disregarded Isobel’s advice that the course was not for beginners. It took a long time but the teaching was excellent and with patience I finally completed a drawing that I'm proud of. I would love to know how long an expert like Isabel would take to complete something like this. For sure it would be much less than the year it took me! (at maybe an hour a week) So for those wondering if they can do this course, the answer in my view is that anyone can, but it'll take a lot of hours. They're fun hours and you'll learn a lot about using Affinity Designer along the way. Apart from knowing in advance about the time needed to complete this course, I would have liked a touch more help about what what level of detail it is okay to leave out - sometimes I'd get carried away at high magnification only to realise that nothing that I'd drawn was at all visible at a reasonable scale. Experience I guess. Overall: I recommend anyone who's interested in learning Affinity Designer or how to make realistic drawings to take this course, provided you have enough time and patience. It's quite a long journey but I loved it. Thanks, Isabel.
