The course information is good, but everything he does is relative to his theme, which has more options to configure items than a free theme will be. I agree that you should buy a theme if this is an important store for you, but this should be made clear in the course description. When you get into the really technical stuff, it is all theme specific so you will be googling most of your questions. Also, he doesn't seem to be responding to anything.
