Course Overview

Windows 10 Administration

A comprehensive course to help you use Windows 10 for administration requirements as an admin

Windows 10 is a Microsoft operating system for tablets, personal computers, embedded devices and Internet of Things. Windows 10 has outranked Windows 7 as the most popular OS in the world. It holds more than 39% of the market share for desktop operating systems and runs on more than 700 million devices. Being able to administer a Windows machine is a key requirement for sysadmins as many businesses opt for Windows.

This comprehensive guide will help you as an admin use Windows 10 for your administration requirements. It will help Windows 7 administrators update their administration skills from to Windows 10 and sharpen them. Beginning with a quick introduction to Windows 10, you’ll see how to install and optimize the operating system. We’ll cover the new features and admin tools that Windows 10 brings to the table and you’ll see how it benefits you over previous versions.

Moving on, we’ll deep dive and cover all the administrative tasks in Windows 10 such as Group Policy, installing and updating drivers, indexing, Windows security (encryption and authentication), RSAT, remote desktop connection, secure boot along with troubleshooting boot problems, Windows networking, firewall, virtualization (Hyper-V), creating backups, and recovery. Finally, we’ll also cover troubleshooting techniques so you can solve issues that you might face with Windows 10.

By the end of the course, you’ll be very confident in carrying out administrative tasks with Windows 10 in your organization using the skills you acquired here.

Pretty basic information for an administrative course, but that's ok. But also there were several hilarious written mistakes, like "Cornell faults" instead of "Kernel faults", as well as some typos and mistakes in the quizzes. There was one quiz question that was completely messed up where the question was actually an answer, and the list of answers did not even contain the right answer. It was about UAC and which version of Windows introduced it. The question said "Correct! UAC was introduced in Windows Vista." The four possible answers were Windows XP SP2, Windows 10, Windows XP SP2 (again), and Windows 7. To get the question correct, you had to choose "Windows 10". Then it would say "Incorrect, UAC was introduced in Windows Vista" but the answer would be highlighted in green indicating that you got it correct. I swear I couldn't even make this up!

From the description of the course I expected something a little more advanced. The narrator also mentions many options that he does not discuss that would have been more helpful to learn. Probably very good for people with absolutely no experience with Windows 10, but not helpful for people who already have a basic amount of knowledge. Was looking for a lot more.

The narrator does not need to read every menu item. It takes too much time and is unnecessary. If the audience is sight impaired, that needs to be a separate course tailored to them.

Most explanations were simply, "here's where this thing is and here's how you can run it," but very little detail. This is a good start for someone who is unaware of the items covered, but if you need an in-depth explanation, this is not your course.
