Introduction to Pen and Ink Sketching

This course was too advanced for me. The use of watercolours and coloured inks look like fun, but I am too much of a nervous beginner to try that yet. I still need step by step instructions to build my confidence with more basic pen and ink techniques and would have liked some more projects like the waterfall one.

Very good course to get started on ones artistic aspirations.

I am a newbie to pen sketching and this technique had always fascinated me. However, it seemed to be very tough. With Shirish's clear instructions, explanations in easy to understand manner and step by step guidance, I was able to create my very first pen sketch- that of a waterfall. I learnt a lot from this course- developed an eye for understanding sections like foreground and background, learnt some basic sketching and shading techniques like hatching and stippling and used these techniques throughout the course to overcome my fear. The exercises are very interesting and will unleash the learner's creativity. For example, I am now going to merge my watercolouring skills with pen sketching and try to make artworks that are very different from my previous ones. Very satisfied with the course. Although Shirish breaks down all the steps to suit the absolute beginner, a prior basic knowledge of drawing would be helpful for the learner to progress faster.

I have learnt a huge amount of useful techniques from watching this course. I now have more confidence to just have fun and try out new things and relax rather than trying to produce 100% accurate sketches. Wish you ran residential short courses.
