Course Overview
Learn the fundamentals of Arnold renderer by rendering a realistic scene in Autodesk Maya 2017
Autodesk Maya 2017 now comes with the industry standard Arnold renderer. Arnold is used by many visual effects and animations studios to produce stunning imagery for films and TV.
3 reasons learn this powerful renderer:
- Make yourself more attractive to potential employers.
- Take your work to the next level of realism.
- Easier to learn than nearly all other renderers.
This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn to use Arnold to create great images from beginner level. You will learn to light and shade a scene from start to finish, covering fundamentals along the way. This course will take you through a practical project rather than going over endless settings with a sphere.
You must use Maya 2017 or above and be familiar with the basics of Maya including selecting objects, navigating the viewport and basic rendering. If you are new to Maya I would recommend completing my Learn Maya - A Beginners guide to Creating Realistic Scenes course.

The content is good but the execution is outdated slowing down learning with heaps of additional problem solving needed. Not necessarily a bad thing but it prolongs completion by a lot.

Very good in the early progress. Exampled very well on every button/iron/tools and show it how to use them also.. Great!! The course is using Maya 2017, right now i using Maya 2019 and half way overall progressing the course, alot of things has changed between 2017 and 2019. Example They fix alot of bug on arnold rendering review stuff. Insert the imageplane on the camera is not working for M2019 and i need to use mesh to create plane for BG. Skin shader is no more in M2019 and it merge with standard surface shader They remove reflecting/refraction option Alot of new tools, options, shader to play with For now those people using latest version make sure you have all the basic course cover or experience on maya so that u can solve some of the problem that the videos that you saw can be done but in M2019 u cannot and need other way solve it. Luckily i have tons of experience using maya since 2012 so most of stuff can be solve and counter the problem. If those people still quite new on maya and want to go through this course in the fast speed, best way is to downgrade using Maya 2017 to complete the course.

Please, update the course as soon as you can! It was an EXCELLENT experience. I really learned a lot of new tricks to help my workflow, but the 2018 /19 version of Maya differs a lot from the '17 especially in reguard of the ai materials. I did tried to work my way out to get the best resoults but my lack of knowledge really gets the job hard. This course is amazing and deserves to be upgraded. I hope that you can find time to do so! Thank you very much for sharing this!
