Course Information
Course Overview
Learn the full pipeline for creating this game asset from start to finish, with high poly modeling, texturing, and more!
This tutorial series takes a complete look at modeling and unwrapping a hard-surface prop, starting with creating a high poly of this bomb-case asset. Then, we'll make the low poly using quick modifier stack shortcuts, discuss UV unwrapping, and explain the important relationship between Normal maps, UVs, and Smoothing groups.

Overall this is a good course if somewhat outdated. It's modelling section went through some great practises and principles that really speeds up the modelling phase as well as giving an understanding of how to build a low poly model to get as much out of a normal bake as possible. The modelling section was delivered really well and gives the user a good understanding of why and how the object is modelled this way. The baking phase seems to be outdated as I hit a roadblock in the material id phase and it wouldnt work. So far QA hasn't responded to my question either so this is as far as I was able to follow. Despite this the baking process was explained well and I still had an understanding of why it was been done. The texturing phase is the biggest pitfall of this course, and only people with a solid understanding and experience with photoshop will be able to follow whats actually going on. He goes through texturing incredibly quickly either not explaining what hes doing, what keys hes using or he does so very vaguely and doesn't give the user an good understanding of what hes doing and why. Whilst I still think this is a good course I think it needs to be updated with modern techniques.
