Course Overview
Part SEVEN of an 8-part programme of insights and techniques for nurturing Creativity and the Arts in Early Childhood
Early childhood educators, special education professionals, cultural educators and artists will gain in-depth knowledge on how young children explore the world through photography and video, including techniques and resources to harness their artistic and creative potential.
The Creative Teacher programme is made up of eight separate courses, each of which can be watched as a stand-alone course or as part of the whole programme. It is recommended to watch at least the first course in addition to any other you choose, if not purchasing the whole programme.
This is the SEVENTH course in the programme and sets out the foundations for using photography and video with young children up to five years old.
In this course you will learn:
How photography positions children with more agency in sharing what’s important to them
The role of images in integrating and strengthening diverse cultural identities
Extending photography into the home as a great way of building relationships with families
How pedagogies of (digital) listening reveal new perspectives on children's interests
The power of the camera to help children connect their learning over longer periods
Real world examples of scaffolding young children to build and extend their digital stories
A personal story illustrating children's creative and critical thinking
Further reading and resources to support you in developing a culture of creativity
