Course Overview
An Introduction to Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and the Neuropsychology of PTSD
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has grown faster than any other form of psychotherapy.
It has helped hundreds of thousands of people reduce the intensity of their distress.
EMDR was originally developed to treat Post-Traumatic Disorder (PTSD).
Then therapists and patients found that it is often effective in alleviating the symptoms of many other psychological conditions and challenges.
Today the infamous Eye Movement Technique is often synthesized with mindfulness practices to create a transformative form of meditation that can reduce stress, induce relaxation, and help cultivate a state of clarity creativity.
EMDR has also remained controversial since its first discovery, because despite numerous theories, nobody knows exactly how or why it works.
This course provides a concise yet comprehensive insight into all aspects of EMDR and its applications, and includes videos for use in your own meditation practice.
Please note that the course:
Does not provide therapy for those with PTSD
Does not provide a clinical training in the application or administering of EMDR

I signed up to this course to help fulfil my requirement for CPD and was very disappointed. Much of the content is not really about EMDR or PTSD, the course is padded out with a very patronising summary of aspects of neuroscience. I think the title of the course is therefore misleading (better would be perhaps "Basic introduction to EMDR, PTSD and neuroscience). He does at least admit it isn't suitable for learning to practice EMDR, but that would have been useful to know before purchase. The presenter also has an irritating and very distracting habit of s p e a k i n g v e r y s l o w l y , and this can come across as quite patronising. It is as though he is explaining the topic to three-year-olds. Compared to other udemy courses, I wish I had saved my money and bought a book instead. Hopefully I can salvage something from this.

A good and interesting introduction to the topic. It would have been useful to have some written resources but nevertheless I found it to be a very interestng introduction.

I do not recommend this course if you want to learn EMDR techniques. It is more about the architecture of the brain and the mechanism of memory formation.
