Course Overview

Game design & development masterclass: Double Dragoon game!

The ultimate beginner's guide to game development and design! Build a fully functional Double Dragoon Beat Em Up game.

This course was funded by a wildly successful Kickstarter.

Let's make a sidescroller game with two players! Learn to code, make art, and add sound to build a full 2D Double Dragoon game in Unity® 2017.

In this course, game developer Glauco Pires from Mammoth Interactive teaches you how to build a game in Unity®. This course is unique because we make both the code and the art for the game from scratch. We teach you the fundamentals of designing, coding, and fine-tuning a game.

First you design the game and its functionality in Unity®. You learn how to code in C#. Don't worry if you've never coded before. We start simple and add more to the game as the course goes on. We interweave theory with practical examples so that you learn by doing.

Mammoth Interactive game designer Kevin Liao teaches you everything you need to know about Photoshop to make game art. One of the best features is that you can watch the courses at any speed you want. This means you can speed up the or slow down the video if you want to.

This course is project-based. You will not learn a bunch of useless coding practices. At the end of this course, you will have an AWESOME game to use in your portfolio. Taking this course means that you learn practical, employable skills immediately.

Learning how to code is a great way to jump in a new career or enhance your current career. Coding is the new math! Learning to code will propel you forward for any situation. Learn it today and get a head start for tomorrow. People who can master technology will rule the future.

I felt lost with his explanation. Is this class for someone who has some experience with making games?

The course started off very well paced for beginners, introducing them to concepts of not just how, but why. As the course continued, it felt more and more rushed, foregoing the reasoning behind coding decisions, opting instead to instruct to do x or y.

There is no single player, this feels like only half of a course and to fill more hours they just teach you 3D modeling in 2D course.

Just finished the "Game design & development masterclass: Double Dragoon game!" it was about as bare bones as you can get, though I did learn a few things, he did things differently than I normally would have. The actual "game" portion was only about 5 hours, the random the blender stuff felt like filler since it had nothing to do with the game at hand and the photoshop crash course wasn't needed for a class that is supposed to be about programming (but maybe it's useful to someone?). In any case 12 hours later here I am with a new Udemy cert. It's not really a full double dragon game though, doesn't even touch AI, it's as barebones as you could get, 2 players, an attack button, pick up object / throw object, doesn't even cover fake 3D jumping, actual power bars (it's using text)... I mean... Well having to take Mammoth interactive courses before, (I backed his Kickstarter many moons ago) I should expect this level of bare-bones tutorial action. It's worth the sale price of $10, but do not believe him when he says he's giving you assets worth $2000, that's simply not true. He's giving you 2 player local multiplayer on the same keyboard (though it would be very easy to get it to work with 2 controllers) shows you how to setup the animations and a few neat coding tricks. I wish he didn't include the Blender stuff and instead went into AI, or how to emulate a jump or any number of Double Dragon-esk features that are simply not here. http://ude.my/UC-Y6W7I8OR
