This comprehensive F5 training course provides an in-depth understanding of the BIG-IP platform, covering both TMOS (Traffic Management Operating System) and LTM (Local Traffic Manager) functionalities. The course is structured into three levels, progressing from fundamental concepts to advanced configurations and integrations.
Level 1 - TMOS Essentials
The first section focuses on understanding the foundational aspects of TMOS, the operating system powering F5 devices. Students will start with an overview of BIG-IP TMOS, followed by an introduction to system setup, including initial configurations, NTP, DNS, SMTP settings, and login banner customization. The course then dives into networking concepts such as VLANs, self-IPs, routes, and FortiProxy integration. A strong emphasis is placed on security with certificate administration and deployment.
Level 1 - LTM Fundamentals
The second section shifts focus to F5 LTM, covering traffic processing and infrastructure simulation. Topics include nodes, pools, and priority activation groups, which are critical for managing application traffic effectively. Students will explore virtual servers, TCP streaming, and load balancing techniques. Advanced traffic handling concepts such as NAT, monitors, persistence profiles, and SSL profiles are covered to ensure a well-rounded understanding of how LTM optimizes application availability and security.
Level 2 - Advanced TMOS & LTM
The final section combines advanced topics across both TMOS and LTM, enhancing the student's expertise in high availability, software updates, VLAN failsafe, and iRules. Real-world scenarios are explored, including HTTP-to-HTTPS redirection, LTM policy creation, and ICAP integration using FortiProxy. Participants will gain hands-on experience in managing system upgrades and troubleshooting advanced configurations.
By the end of this course, learners will have a deep technical knowledge of F5 TMOS and LTM, equipping them with the skills to deploy, configure, and optimize application delivery and security on BIG-IP platforms.
