Intro to OpenAI Codex: Fully Agentic Coding

Master OpenAI's Codex to boost productivity, automate tasks & build applications faster than traditional coding

Discover how to revolutionize your development workflow with OpenAI's powerful Codex - the cutting-edge agentic coding assistant that's changing how software gets built.

This introductory course is your gateway to understanding and mastering Codex, whether you're a seasoned developer looking to boost productivity or a startup founder aiming to accelerate your development cycles.

We begin with the fundamentals, exploring what makes Codex different from traditional coding assistants and alternatives like Devin. You'll learn how its specialized Codex-1 model and cloud-based container architecture create a unique development experience that complements your existing skills.

Through practical, hands-on lessons, you'll discover how to:

  • Set up optimal Codex environments for different project types

  • Craft effective prompts that generate exactly the code you need

  • Use strategic techniques to reduce your Codex costs by up to 70%

  • Build a complete Next.js application with minimal manual coding

  • Manage multiple coding tasks in parallel using Codex's container system

  • Implement complex features on production applications through AI assistance

What sets this course apart is its focus on real-world applications. We'll work with actual codebases, including my production app "Olly," showing you how Codex integrates into professional development workflows. You'll witness firsthand how a landing page and dashboard can be completely overhauled in just 10 minutes - a task that would typically take hours.

By the end of this course, you'll have developed a systematic approach to working with AI coding assistants that combines human creativity and expertise with Codex's speed and capabilities. This hybrid workflow will dramatically increase your productivity while maintaining code quality and architecture integrity.

Join me in exploring the future of software development with OpenAI Codex - where coding is faster, more intuitive, and more powerful than ever before.

This is the worst class I have ever seen, no doubt about it. It's like a mix of advertising and random lectures, very superficial!

A reasonable walkthrough of some of the use cases that Codex handles well together with comparisons to other AI tools for augmented software development. Thank you.

It is a bit outdated for the chatgpt model currently. Currently it is chatgpt 5.2 I am using so the interface looks different from what is on the tutorials. However, this is still teaching me something and I am starting to follow along. See how the rest goes...
