Course Information
Course Overview
Create stunning mural art with wild clay pigments, and earth-friendly mural reliefs —no experience needed.
This course walks you through two powerful ways to work with raw clay on walls:
Sculpting Mural Reliefs:
Use cob (a bio-construction mix of clay soil, sand, and straw) to shape textured murals directly onto walls or panels.
Understand what to consider when using wild clay to create strong, workable cob recipes.
We’ll guide you through surface preparation, cob mixing techniques for base and detail layers, and various natural and ancestral methods to ensure your reliefs are durable and water-resistant.
Painting with Mineral Pigments:
Learn how to identify wild clay in nature and transform it into high-quality pigment for mural paint.
We will share different custom paint recipes using a variety of binders —natural and synthetic— so you can choose according to your needs and resources available.
Discover how to prepare both small and large batches of paint, allowing you to tackle mural projects of any scale.
Get an introduction to mural painting basics—from design tips and color testing to painting steps and layering. We’ll also cover how to create visual depth using highlights, mid-tones, and shadows.
We have designed this class for practical application:
We’ll explore how to approach both large and small-scale mural projects.
For those without access to a wall, we’ll show you how to apply all techniques to a portable surface (a wood panel), so you can start experimenting right away.
You'll also receive a downloadable Instruction Manual (PDF) with all the recipes, key concepts, and step-by-step guides for mural creation. It’s designed to support your learning during and after the course.
This class requires no prior experience in mural art. Every lesson is straightforward, beginner-friendly, and focused on using accessible tools. The course was filmed in Maras, Perú, using only basic materials—proving that you don’t need specialised equipment to create beautiful, earth-based murals.
Are you ready to give life to indoor & outdoor surfaces by honouring the colors and textures of the Earth?

I really enjoyed this course because it helped me organize and better understand the structure of the materials and methods used. I already had some basic knowledge about clay building, which I mostly associated with rustic construction or archaeological sites in the Middle East for example. However, this course gave me a much broader perspective—especially regarding color processing and the possibilities for creating beautiful, high-quality designs. The instructors are very creative, and I really appreciated that the course includes not only technical information but also a strong focus on the artistic and creative aspects.
