In PMI exams, performance is typically assessed using a scoring scale that categorizes candidates' results into different bands or levels. While specific terminology may vary slightly depending on the PMI certification, here’s a common framework used for PMI exams, including the PMI-CP:

  1. Above Target: Indicates performance that exceeds expectations across the assessed domains. Typically awarded to candidates scoring higher than the target range.

  2. Target: This denotes satisfactory performance, meeting the expected criteria in most domains. Candidates achieving this score demonstrate a competent understanding of the material.

  3. Below Target: This indicates that the candidate did not meet the expected standards in one or more domains, suggesting areas for improvement.

  4. Needs Improvement: This is a lower performance level, indicating significant gaps in knowledge or understanding, often requiring further study or preparation before retaking the exam.

Scoring Points

  • Above Target: Generally reflects a score above 80% in the total possible points.

  • Target: Typically represents a score between 65% and 79%.

  • Below Target: Usually indicates a score between 50% and 64%.

  • Needs Improvement: Often signifies a score below 50%.

I took the following topic-based practice tests in preparation for the PMI-CP exam: Contract Management on April 7, 2025 – scored 100% (30/30) Stakeholder Engagement on April 7, 2025 – scored 100% (30/30) Strategy and Scope Management on April 8, 2025 – scored 100% (30/30) Project Governance on April 8, 2025 – scored 96% (29/30) On April 10, 2025, I took the actual PMI-CP certification exam and passed with an Above Target performance. These four practice tests developed by Taqiyeddine Goufi were much easier than the real exam. While the actual exam questions were more detailed and lengthy, the overall concepts and intent were consistent with the practice tests. Many thanks for creating these well-structured and effective study resources.

Not reality. You can pass the exam without reading the questions- just choose the answer with the most words. There will only be one. The real exam has long scenario questions with multiple answers that could be correct. These exams are not a good preparation for the real thing.
