if aware of power query, it's pretty basic stuf, but for expreme beginners, it is good for a understanding of what it can be done.

This course is very much in need because those without BI experience may import data and go directly to creating visuals for a dashboard. However, having worked with data for over 30 years, I can tell you what the instructor is saying is very true. Unless the data you are importing has already gone through a cleaning process such as data that has gone through SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) where one or more Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) packages have been created and the data has gone through its ETL process into some table called Dimension and Fact tables, then I can tell with certainty the data will be data and will need to be cleansed. There are a lot of other things that can be done in the Query Editor besides cleansing as the Instructor has touched on that when completed will help your with the performance of your Data Model (the data used to create your dashboard). Basically, what I wanted to say about this course it is for those that have never used the Query Editor. Maybe those that have already created data visualizations but didn't understand the need for the Query Editor. This is a very basic, for the absolute beginner course. I gave the course 5-stars because I believe he felt that it was important enough, which is an understatement, when you Get Data, make sure you click the Edit button to take you into the Query Editor and look at the data you want to use in your dashboard visualizations. Again, this is a very basic course and that is why the instructor encouraged his students to go through the various transformations, to understand what can be done to make working with the data once you are finished with it in the Query Editor. I agree 100% with the instructor and I'm sure all of us would, the data has to be clean first or the dashboards we create will not be accurate and will not be something anyone can trust. Great job, Doug, but making sure those just being introduced to this technology does not miss this important step of the process.

I enjoyed this course but did find it quite short. I realize it is for entry level users but I felt like there was still a lot of functionality that could have been covered off
