Learn Optical Network Fundamentals And Advanced Techniques For High Speed Communication
This course is about The Optical Networks , which represent a transformative paradigm in the field of telecommunications, and seamlessly enabling the high-speed transmission of vast amounts of data over extended distances, By using the light as carrier signal and the optical fiber as transport media .
The purpose of this course is to present and explain The most principals concepts , topics and elements of the optical networks in a professional way to easily understand the optical telecommunication technology and the optical networks correctly and in short time , to be qualified to deal with the optical technology , optical networks, optical equipment, and optical projects , And to know the best criteria of product types selection.
After completing this course, the sudents will recieve a good knowledge and expertise about the optical networks .
At the begining of the course the student will receive a good knowledge about the following topics as requirement to understand easly the ptical networks:
1. The Light Theory including:
- Light diffraction
- Light interference
- Photoelectric
2. The Optics including :
- Refraction of the light
- Reflection of the light
The light and optics are very important because the are forming the essential principal of optical
equipment operation and signal propagation inside the optical fibers.
After understanding the light and optics the students will understand correctly the following topics :
1. Optical networks architecture and the optical networks elements:
- Optical Network Stations
- Optical Network Nodes
- Optical Network Trunks
- Optical Network multiple topologies used in the optical network connections .
2. Optical Fibers including :
- Single Mode Optical Fiber which is used for long distance.
- Multimode optical fiber which is used for medium and short distance
3. Optical Receivers
4. Optical Transmitters
5. Optical Amplifiers
6. Optical Multiplexing & De-multiplexing technologies and equipment .
Furthe the optical networks , the students will understand the pricipals of laser including the
following topics :
1. Laser technology and laser construction which represents an active and very important
element in the modern optical networks
2. Laser types with explanation of each type .
3. Laser role in the optical amplifiers
4. Optical amplifiers that are using laser .
5. Comparison between the optical amplifiers and conventional electronic repeaters
6. Comparison between Fiber Optical Amplifiers (FOA) , RAMAN Amplifiers , and Semiconductor
optical amplifier (SOA)
7. The Criteria of optical amplifier selection to design an effective optical network for best
performance .
After completing the course there will be an exam to obtain the final certificate of the optical
networks.
