Course Information
Course Overview
Practical and systematic ways to discover areas to innovate or its solutions or deal with implementation challenges.
Innovation is often approached as a sequence of steps—problem definition, ideation, development, and implementation. In practice, however, each of these stages demands continuous exploration.
Contexts evolve, assumptions shift, and new signals emerge, making exploration an ongoing requirement throughout the innovation journey rather than a one-time activity at the beginning.
This course presents a structured approach to innovation exploration. Rooted in the MijS approach, exploration here is treated as a deliberate practice – one that supports understanding the context more deeply at every stage of innovation, whether refining direction, evaluating possibilities, or deciding next actions.
The course begins by establishing what innovation exploration involves, its core intent, and the features that distinguish meaningful exploration from routine analysis or information gathering.
It then expands into the role of diverse sources of exploration, explaining why different types of sources matter and how each contributes uniquely to understanding the dynamics of a context. Rather than accumulating information, the emphasis remains on broadening thought horizons and improving the quality of inputs that inform innovation decisions.
A key part of the course focuses on synthesis of explored information. As exploration continues across stages, synthesis becomes essential for making sense of what is gathered, working with ambiguity, and developing evolving clarity. Through structured frameworks and exercises, the course demonstrates how synthesis helps convert dispersed inputs into coherent understanding that can guide further action.
Overall, the course positions exploration as a continuous companion to innovation – supporting better judgment, stronger alignment, and more informed movement forward at every stage of the journey.
