Course Overview
Hosted by the Hong Kong Catastrophic Risk Centre and the Department of Philosophy at Lingnan University, the Master of Arts in Artificial Intelligence and the Future (MAAIF) offers a humanities-based perspective on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our students gain a fundamental understanding of AI and delve into the ethical and social issues arising from AI technologies through a rigorous interdisciplinary programme that combines philosophy, computer science, logic, psychology, and the arts. In our wide-ranging curriculum, students explore the ramifications of AI across a variety of domains, including science, law, economics, public policy, healthcare, and business and finance.
Existing AI programs with a strong technical focus do not adequately prepare students to tackle the broader ethical and philosophical issues raised by this technology. In contrast, the Department of Philosophy and the Hong Kong Catastrophic Risk Centre are ideally equipped to meet this challenge. Classes will be held at Lingnan’s state-of-the-art M+ Campus in the heart of the West Kowloon Cultural District (subject to change owing to limited classroom availability).
