Warning for Mac/Linux Users Prospective students using macOS or a Linux distribution (such as Ubuntu) should be aware that this course is taught exclusively using the PC/Windows version of the software tool. While the core concepts may be similar, the instruction, shortcuts, interface elements, and troubleshooting provided are tailored 100% to the Windows environment. It is unacceptable that the title and the course description fail to clearly specify that this instruction is Windows-only. This oversight resulted in a waste of money for me, and I strongly recommend the instructors amend the listing immediately to prevent future disappointment and unwarranted purchases by users on non-Windows platforms. The instructor unfortunately dismissed concerns regarding Mac/Linux users, suggesting that the vast majority of users are on PC and that there is no data to support the prevalence of other operating systems. This perspective reveals a significant lack of awareness, especially given the context of fields like bioinformatics. In the bioinformatics community, there is a strong, industry-standard preference for Unix-based operating systems (macOS and Linux, particularly Ubuntu/CentOS) over Windows for core development and analysis due to compatibility with essential tools. Assuming "most people" are on PC ignores a substantial and highly technical segment of the user base who would benefit from, and often require, platform-specific instruction.
