Course Information
Course Overview
Learn Spoken Malayalam through Sentences, Malayalam Conversations, Role-play scenarios and Vocabulary through pictures.
The first question you might have in your mind is "why should I choose this course to learn Malayalam ?". The answer to this is as below.
1. Most of the people wants to learn Malayalam in order to:
a) Communicate with their loved ones who are native Malayalam speakers.
b) They belong to the Malayalam diaspora and wants to connect with their roots.
c) They are planning to travel to Kerala for a vacation.
d) They love Malayalam language for the beauty of it and the ancient history that it holds.
This course has been designed specially for all these people. You will learn about the culture, usage of certain words and most importantly, you will be able to use what you learnt while you are learning. You don't have to wait until you finish the whole course to start speaking in Malayalam. In fact, I would highly recommend that if possible to practice with a Malayalam native speaker while you do this course.
(Note: This course contains only spoken Malayalam. So, if you are looking to learn old Malayalam to read Malayalam literature or poems then this course is not for you.)
2. I have 12 years of experience in teaching Malayalam to people all around the world. I have trained more than 500 students to become fluent in Malayalam. This course has been created through all the experiences that I have gained over the years.
3. There is no prerequisite for this course. Malayalam Transliteration is provided instead of the actual Malayalam script. So, those who can and cannot read in Malayalam, they both can follow my course.
4. This course contains:
a) Useful Malayalam sentences categorized based on the situations and circumstances that they are needed for.
b) Role play scenarios to improve your Malayalam listening skills and practice along with.
c) Malayalam vocabularies being taught through pictures like vegetables, fruits, wild animals, pet animals, relationship names etc.
d) A separate section dedicated in explaining about the Malayalam culture, festivals and do's and don'ts if you are planning to travel to Kerala.
5. This course does not contain any grammar details or explanation. This course is created for those who doesn't want to learn any grammar and they want to learn Malayalam through absorption method just like a baby does by listening, visualizing and repeating the pronunciation and practicing them little by little. This course is also for those, who already knows Malayalam grammar and they want to improve their conversational skills in Malayalam.

This course doesnt teach the breakdown of words. We just have to memorize the word formation. I feel its not the right course for absolute beginners. To learn a language, first we need to learn verbs, pronouns, and basic words and try to form sentences.

This is a helpful course but in Segment 2 (which is the heart of the course) the sentences don't have translations - so you're basically just learning them by heart without understanding the breakdown of what what each word means. Which means you're not going to be able to form sentences on your own. That's a huge problem. If the instructor can add some downloadable notes with the translations that would be extremely helpful.
