I appreciated that David included his research in this course; I think there were some interesting insights he gave based on that. The research also helps for learning to efficiently build rapport and how to remain kind but demand respect, which I appreciated as an introvert and sometimes considerably soft-spoken person. For a final endorsement, I appreciated that David referred students to people he knew and other great resources. I do think David could be mindful of some of the diction he uses when he talks about cultural differences in making a first impression. I definitely feel it's better to acknowledge these differences (than to not) and that he's well-intentioned, but I think parts of the talk came off a bit insensitive and dominant-culture-normative. For instance, he talked about different countries and smaller regions in the Western world but then talked about "Africa," a whole continent. As well, some of the talk about greetings in the US could have been a little more culturally sensitive (in my opinion)--I'm not sure that "street greetings" offers the most positive connotation. Last, he told men to avoid looking at women's chests if trying to understand their breathing pattern--the gender of the observer could have been avoided altogether in that comment.

This is very good course. A couple of improvement could be addition of subtitles. Instructor has an amazing personality and has grip on subject.
