Unified Functional Testing, popularly known by its acronym UFT is an automation testing tool originally from Mercury Interactive which was acquired by Hewlett Packard (HP) in 2006.

UFT is primarily used for functional, regression and service testing. Using UFT, you

can automate user actions on a web or client based computer application and test the same actions for different users, different data set, on various Windows operating systems and/or different browsers. Automation using UFT if planned and executed in a proper manner can save considerable time and money.
With the release of version 11.50, QTP and Service Test became part of UFT 11.50 software.
UFT is one of the most widely used automation testing tools in the market today with over 60% market share. Due to this reason, skilled UFT professionals are always in demand.

This course will also cover performance testing using LoadRunner and Test Management using Application Life cycle Management

Some of the important aspects of QTP:

1. It uses VB Script as its scripting language. (A scripting language is one that gets interpreted at run time)
2. QTP runs only in a windows environment.
3. The current version of QTP is 11.0 (Latest version Unified Functional Testing – UFT 11.5)
4. The technologies it supports are Web, Java .Net, SAP, Oracle, Siebel, PeopleSoft, Web Services, and many major languages. Although some of the older versions don’t support all the technologies listed.
