Overview
The Doctor of Education (EdD) is an internationally recognized research qualification for experienced educators and professionals who wish to gain and apply research techniques to advance their knowledge and expertise in educational research, practice, policy, leadership, and administration.

The Huddersfield EdD recruits from a wide variety of educational and professional contexts. Our EdD researchers have included Primary, Secondary and Further Education teachers; Higher Education tutors from Arts, Applied Science, and Social Science disciplines; senior leaders in education and administration; and professionals in education and training across a wide range of sectors including, police and social services.

What You’ll Learn

The EdD consists of four taught modules and a 50,000 word thesis. The programme in Hong Kong can be completed in four years

Taught Phase – Four modules completed in one year 

 

  • Educational Research Theory And Methodology
  • Evaluating Research Fields And Designs
  • Data Collection And Analysis
  • Developing Research Proposals In Educational Enquiry. This is the completion of the Research Support Plan and the point of ethical approval for the research phase of the EdD.

Research Phase – completed in three years.

  • Progression to the research phase is dependent on successful completion of the taught phase.
  • Allocation of Supervisor team
  • Progression Monitoring
  • Submission of Thesis
  • Viva Voce examination
