What You’ll Learn
The Future of Work
This module adopts a perspective to examine the dynamics, complexities, and uncertainties of a modernworld of work. Topics on the future of work will be studied in a national and global context. You’ll explore the impact at an individual, organisational, and societal level of the need for efficiency and effectiveness in managing a diverse workforce, the impact of technological change, and the changing relationship between employers and employees. Through the module you’ll develop a critical understanding of the workplace as employees and managers of the future.
International Marketing
The aim of this module is to help develop your understanding of the marketing theory and principles within the international or global business arena. This module aims to consolidate information from other modules that you have studied previously in order to develop an advanced understanding of marketing at international or global level. It involves the consideration of the international marketing environment and the application of marketing principles for companies operating in foreign and world markets.
Managing Across Cultures
In this module, you’ll explore how culture affects business and management. You’ll learn the essential knowledge and theories in cross-cultural management, which will enable you to compare cultures systematically. You’ll also investigate the latest developments in cross cultural research, which will develop your capability in understanding and analysing cross cultural scenarios. You are encouraged to develop an open-minded approach to cultural differences and an understanding of culture’s influence on business and management
Retail and Manufacturing Logistics
This module examines the role of logistics in supporting the retail industry and providing a basis for competitive advantage. You’ll have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the structure of the retailing industry and the increased pressures being placed on suppliers and distributors. Retail network structures are analysed recognising the impact of globalisation and the growth in e-retailing on the total supply chain.
Strategic Supply Chain Management
This module evaluates the role of logistics and supply chain management in helping to achieve the strategic objectives of an organisation. You’ll explore how managing strategically across the entire supply chain can help an organisation to achieve and maintain its competitive edge in terms of market share and, profitability. You’ll have the opportunity to diagnose problems within supply chains and to demonstrate your grasp of how different supply chain strategies can positively impact the performance of the firm..
Strategy in Context
In this module you’ll gain an understanding of how organisations develop their strategies in relation to different aspects of their environment. You’ll study how both the internal context (e.g. organisational structure, routines and resources) and external context (e.g. institutional systems, industry structures and competition) shape organisational activities and the strategic decisions that individual managers make.
