Overview
- The Master of Science in Engineering (Infrastructure Engineering and Management) (IEM) Programme is a part-time/full-time postgraduate programme to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in intelligent and innovative infrastructure engineering, construction, and management. There are two specialization streams, namely 'Digital Infrastructure' and 'Infrastructure Project Management'.
- The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including Artificial Intelligence, Building Information Modeling, Automation and Robotics, Computer Vision, Infrastructure Diagnosis and Prognosis, Megaproject Management, Modular Integrated Construction, Environmental impact assessment, and Sustainable construction technology. These topics reflect cutting-edge advancements in the infrastructure and construction field. The programme is designed to prepare students for successful professional careers in a rapidly evolving construction industry, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and technology integration.
- Graduates will be well-positioned for a range of rewarding career opportunities. Graduates could find roles in various sectors of the construction industry, including construction engineering, project management, and infrastructure planning. The focus on advanced technologies such as AI, BIM, and data analysis could lead to careers in digital construction, smart infrastructure development, and technology consulting. The emphasis on sustainable practices and environmental considerations opens doors to roles in green construction, environmental consulting, and sustainability management. Additionally, the programme's grounding in megaproject management and urban informatics could lead to positions in city planning, urban development, and policy-making.
- Students are required to successfully complete 72 credits to graduate. Students have to successfully complete not less than 36 credits of Discipline Courses of the Department of Civil Engineering, another 12 credits of Elective courses, and a Dissertation (equivalent to 24 credits).

Entrance Requirements
1. Comply with the University Entrance Requirements; and
2. Hold a Bachelor's degree from The University of Hong Kong in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification in an appropriate field of study from another university or institution of recognised standing in the following areas: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Industrial and System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Smart Construction, Structural Engineering, Surveying, Transportation Engineering or Urban Planning.
