Course Overview

Course Introduction

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is an internationally-renowned facilitated process used by organisations to engage participants to generate innovative ideas for organisational improvement. This “hand thinking” methodology is based on extensive research in educational theory, neuroscience and psychology and enables participants to address complex issues in a fun and engaging way.

It combines visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic learning styles into one uniquely creative and powerful approach. It teaches both introverts and extroverts to think with their hands and better communicate their ideas, allowing a greater flow of information by building 3D models, giving them a metaphorical meaning and expressing their inner thoughts through storytelling. Everyone actively participates as they solve problem together, all while having fun in an environment that encourages free idea generation.

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Methodology was the brain child of the current owner of the LEGO® Systems Group in Denmark, Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen. He teamed up with Johan Roos and Bart Vector, Organisational Psychologists, and they developed, created, tested and fine-tuned the process. The company retains ownership today.

You will become a certified LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method Facilitator to conduct workshops or programmes with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® upon programme completion.

Programme Content Overview

Day One: Foundation Programme

The first day Jump into the basics on the first programme. This training day introduces you to the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® tool. You will learn how to use the tools with a setting including flow theory, the use of ground rules to set the playing field, etiquette and traps to avoid along with numerous applications for different situations to prep the hand-brain connection. Background theory is provided with hands-on learning.

Day Two: Teams and Groups

The second day moves participants through processes where individual identity is explored and insight gained into how the tools can be customized for any number of workshops or processes including team workshops.

Day Three: Landscape and Systems Development for Teams and Groups

The third day of the training will provide you with an understanding of how to use LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® identity and landscape materials kit to build 3D models that illustrate the complex environments where entities like teams and projects and other interconnected systems function and how these environments “play out” in real time.

Day Four: Master Class Workshop Design and Practice

Day four, our final day, gives you an opportunity to develop your own road maps for workshops you want to deliver. These road maps can be for new LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® workshops or to customise current programs you currently deliver to incorporate LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®. Both of the approaches will be demonstrated.

The last part of this programme lets you practise your facilitation skills in a safe classroom environment. You will receive feedback from other participants and a Certified Licensed LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Methods facilitator.
