The development of art and culture represents the soft power of a country. The cultural and creative industry has become a pillar of the economy and will continue to be a significant driving force for society's advancement. With the advent of the digital landscape, the need for crafting immersive spaces and virtual art financial products grows by the day. The industry in Greater China is now in the phase of self-reflection, adjustment, and breakthrough. There are multitudinous growth opportunities with the current GuoChao (Chinese Fad) and Museum relics creation facilitated by Arts Tech (Art and Technology). We see the vast space for the blossoming demand for integrated value chain services and manoeuvres supporting such.  

With the development of science and technology, the extended art industry witnessed a variety of new business models. The future of Arts Tech relies on highly specialised talents. These talents should be equipped with data-driven strategic and planning skills in the global context, knowledge of art investment trends and auction pricing models,  appreciation of fine arts and AI-motivated generative art, and most importantly, the courage to explore and be open-minded to diversity and sustainability of the art and creative industry. They will expedite the embracement of both Eastern and Western cultures and promote the integration of multi-generation Arts Tech.

Since 2020, Arts Tech entered into HKSAR cultural policy as a strategic development direction for the cultural and creative industry. The Business School of Lingnan University keenly responds to new trends and policies and strives to develop new programmes for cultivating talents under the"industry-university-research" approach. We are launching the MSc Programme of"Art, Technology and Business" in 2023 Fall. The programme liaises the top business education provided by Lingnan Business School with the prospective art master courses instructed by the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. We aim to nurture future leaders with rigorous commercial capabilities, entrepreneurial and innovative mindset,  and aptitudes of appreciation and exploration of Arts Tech, to facilitate the fast-changing art and creative industry development in Greater China and Asia.

This programme is the first interdisciplinary master's programme in Hong Kong that is taught in Chinese and focuses on both arts technology and business.
It aims to develop the next generation of arts managers and arts business leaders in the cultural and creative industries. Students will be able to develop a good understanding of best business practices and develop a deep appreciation of arts technology and business in this dynamic industry.

Programme Learning Objectives

To develop students' understanding of business theories and concepts and their appreciation of art and technology innovations and their latest developments;
To enable students to critically analyse opportunities and challenges in the arts and technology sector, develop problem-solving skills, and become effective arts managers and arts administrators;
To provide students with the opportunity to be exposed to the broad spectrum of the arts community and to develop practical communication skills with people from all walks of life in the arts, technology and related fields;
To nurture a new generation an ethical arts and business leaders who will contribute to a better future for society.
