Course Overview

NTRODUCTION
Starting on or after 1 January 2025, Hong Kong’s listed companies must comply with the revised ESG Reporting Code issued by HKEX in April 2024. These amendments strengthen alignment with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) by incorporating key principles from IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 into the Listing Rules. Under the new framework, all issuers are required to enhance governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics-and-targets disclosures, including mandatory reporting of Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions. Disclosure of Scope 3 emissions, scenario analysis, and climate resilience assessments will follow a phased approach, with LargeCap issuers required to adopt full IFRS S2-aligned climate disclosure from financial years beginning in 2026, while other issuers may do so on a comply-or-explain basis.

Hong Kong is also preparing for broader adoption of HKFRS S1 and S2, which will apply to entities reporting under the HKFRS financial reporting framework. These evolving obligations introduce new demands for businesses, ESG practitioners, engineers, and related professionals. This course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to meet these regulatory expectations effectively and confidently.
