課程簡介
Digital English Studies can be understood broadly as English linguistics in the digital era. Technology shapes the way we use language. It Is not just the container of linguistic messages but has profound impact on the way languages change and humans engage in social, cultural, economic and political activities. In today’s world, the way we use English is deeply intertwined with digital technologies. The Master of Arts in Digital Englsih Studies (MADES) programme prepares students to respond to the social changes that are taking place in the digitalized world, and reflect on the impact of digital technologies on the learning, teaching, research and use of English language. Students will be guided to make use of digital tools in conducting linguistic, multi-modal and critical analysis of digital information, making an impact in the real world.
The MADES programme is the first Master's programme in Hong Kong that addresses the rapid advancements in research approaches in applied English linguistics and digital technology, filling a gap in Hong Kong’s MA programmes by integrating these two domains.
