Course Overview
The objective of the programme is to enable the students to read, write, speak, and comprehend practical Korean in a Korean language environment. Students will be able to fulfil social language functions in Korean society upon completion of the programme.
What You’ll Learn
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:
1. read and write short essays using both simple and complex sentences;
2. demonstrate knowledge of an additional 900 vocabulary items;
3. apply higher-level grammatical rules, such as verb conjugation and auxiliary verbs showing moods,
complex sentences with relative pronouns and relative adverbs; and
4. utilize different styles of writing/speaking and formality/ informality.

This programme consists of 2 modules with 108 contact hours.

Module 1 Intermediate Korean 1 (54 hours)
This module aims to provide Intermediate-level Korean learners with a proper learning experience with different elements of the Korean language, such as Korean culture, vocabulary, grammar, everyday conversations, and short essay skills at Level 3 of TOPIK standards (Test of Proficiency in Korean).
Module 2 Intermediate Korean 2 (54 hours)
This module is a continuation of “Intermediate Korean 1”, and it aims to provide and enhance intermediate-level Korean learners with a proper learning experience with different elements of the Korean language, such as Korean culture, vocabulary, grammar, everyday conversations, and essay skills at Level 3-4 of TOPIK standards (Test of Proficiency in Korean).

Admission Requirements
1. Completion of CUSCS Certificate Programme in Korea (Basic) or equivalent; or demonstration of
proficiency of an equivalent level; and
2. Completion of secondary education, or equivalent; or
3. Aged 21 or above
Normal and Maximum Study Period
Normal Study Period: about 1.5 years
Maximum Study Period: Students must complete the programme within 3 years
Assessment Methods
Presentation, tests and final examination
Award of Certificate
a) Have an attendance rate of 70% or above in each module; and
b) Have passed the assessment of each module.
Students must complete the programme within the maximum study period (3 years).
