Course Overview

Basics of Reinforced Concrete Manual Design | ACI Standards

Learn Concrete Mix Design and Manual Design of Reinforced Concrete, Columns, Beams and One Way Solid Slabs Per ACI318-19

Dear student, In this course, you will learn the basics of reinforced concrete manual design per ACI Code Standards.

We will go through the fundamental concepts of concrete and steel and its design, such as the properties of concrete, the stress-strain diagrams, and load calculations for building design.

Additionaly, we will go through solved examples in the design of Solid Slab, Beams, and Columns, in addition to the Concrete technology and Concrete Mix Design, and the proportion of concrete admixture according to ACI 211.1 -22.

You will master the knowledge in these topics:

  • Manual Concrete Mix Design Per ACI 211.1-22 Method

  • ACI 318-19 Load Combinations

  • Dead Load, Live Load and Super Dead load On Slabs

  • Slab Ultimate Area Load Calculation

  • Short Column Capacity and Ultimate axial load on column

  • Design of Rectangular Column: Preliminary Dimensions and reinforcement

  • Load Transfer Mechanism - One Way and Two Way Solid Slabs

  • Determining of Solid Slab Preliminary Thickness

  • Design Principles of One Way Solid Slab Per ACI Standards

  • Determining of Beams Preliminary Thickness

  • Check Solid Slab for Shear Reinforcement - ACI

  • Example one Way Solid Slab Manual Design and Load Calculations

  • One Dimensional Structural Model Of Slab Strip

  • Determining the direction of Main and Secondary Beams in Slab

  • ACI Moment and Shear Coefficients Design Method

  • Solid Slab Manual Design for Flexure and Shrinkage

  • Longitudinal Slab Section Reinforcements and Details

  • Concrete Properties: Workability, Slump, Strength and Durability

  • Concrete Compressive Strength Fc`

  • Stress Strain Diagram of Concrete

  • Stress Strain Diagram of Steel

  • Tensile Strength of Steel

  • Clear Concrete Cover Per ACI Standards

  • Working Design Method and Ultimate Design Method

  • Strength Reduction Factors for Shear, Moment, Torsion

  • Live loads Per ASCE 7-22
